Privacy
Privacy
Short version: we collect as little as possible, and analytics runs only if you say yes.
What we collect
- Cookies. Only with your consent, and only for Google Analytics. See “Cookie choices” below.
- Fonts and images are hosted on this site, so loading a page doesn’t send your details to font or image services.
- Server logs. Like any website, our hosting provider may keep basic technical logs (such as IP address and pages requested) to keep the site running and secure.
Cookie choices
When you first visit, a banner asks if you’re happy for us to use cookies for analytics. Google Analytics only loads if you click Accept. You can change your mind at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer, and the banner will ask again.
Google Analytics
With your consent, we use Google Analytics to see which pages people visit, how they found the site and roughly where in the world they are. It helps us decide what to add next and what isn’t earning its place.
- It runs only with consent. Until you click Accept, nothing is loaded from Google and no analytics cookies are set.
- What it collects. Pages viewed, how you arrived, device and browser type, and approximate location. Google Analytics does not store your IP address. We don’t use it for advertising.
- Who processes it. Google, on our behalf. Google’s own privacy policy explains how it handles this data.
- Changing your choice. Use “Cookie settings” in the footer. Choosing Decline stops analytics on this site and removes its cookies from your browser.
The weekly email
The sign-up box isn’t live yet, so we don’t collect any email addresses. When it opens, this page will be updated first to explain what we collect, why, who processes it and how to unsubscribe.
Links to other sites
We link to vendors, booksellers and official sources such as GOV.UK. Their own privacy policies apply once you leave this site.
